Back From New York
March 18th, 2008I just returned home Sunday evening from a four day trip up in New York City. I was up there on behalf of Revolt Marketing to represent Scion at the Robot Rock party, featuring Busy P (Ed Banger Records). The party was insane. It took place at Le Royale, in the West Village, and was packed wall to wall with people and Busy P was great. The party ran till about five in the morning so needless to say it ended up being a long subway ride/walk back to the hotel. Part of my job was to photograph the event so that one could get an idea of what the party was like. I’ve put some of these photos up on my flickr account which you can check out here.
Other highlights from the trip include:
- Zakka in Brooklyn. A great place with an incredible selection of design books.
- Walking the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Panna II in the East Village. Great Indian food. (thanks Derek)
- Meeting Nick Rhodes (nickydigital) as well as Alex and Tom from GBH
- The MOMA. Probably the best museum that I’ve ever been too. The “Design and the Elastic Mind” exhibit blew my mind.
- Winding up in where I did not want to be in Brooklyn.
- I Sodi restauarant. This place had only been open for nine days when we stopped in but we would have never known. The vibe is really cool and the place has a clean modern design. The Italian wine list is comprehensive both in style and price. Additionally, Håkan, the manager is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I wish that we had not eaten just prior to going there because the food looked amazing.
- Brooklyn Industries in Williamsburg. I could have spent some serious money in there. WIlliamsburg as a whole is a good time. (thanks again Derek)
- Meeting my mother’s cousin, Sarah, and getting the chance to see her studio.
- Having far too many drinks at The Garage in Greenwich Village.
- Walking through Central Park with Rachel.
- Sandwiches too big for the two of us to share.
- The best cannoli I’ve ever had.
All in all, Rachel and I had a great time. I’m hoping to make trips up there a more regular thing.
